Et si l'art pouvait guérir?

What if art could heal?

I wanted to share some thoughts on the healing aspect of art.

Not in the sense that it could cure cancer, of course. But I believe that art has great power to arouse emotions, to make us feel something, and sometimes to allow us to understand what was initially unconscious.

Art has the power to connect us to ourselves and to the outside world. In this sense, I believe art is essential.

Personally, I have experienced the power of art on many occasions; it has been a source of peace for me in the midst of the storm, it has brought me a sense of certainty in the moment.

I also noticed this effect that art can have when I installed my exhibition at the Maison du Grand Chemin in Neufville.

Residents have said things to me like, "Oh, it's beautiful; these colors make us feel good."

These thoughts were echoed and amplified during the Emergence Days, during a lecture given by Claire Oppert, a music therapist who plays the cello for sick people to bring them a sense of relief. It gave me goosebumps.

With all this in mind, I'm excited to announce that I've started art therapy training. I'm so curious to see what comes of it, and I can't wait to share glimpses of it all with you.

In the meantime, take care of yourself,

Laura
